Monday's Novel Talk (31)

Ola malta! Aqui fala o Michael, autor do The Subtle Chronicler. Provavelmente estarão a tentar adivinhar porque é que estou a escrever em português. Isto é, se não estiverem a tentar adivinhar que lingua é esta! Pronto, está bem, está bem, eu volto ao inglês.

Translation provided by Leonor! =D I can write Portuguese but not very well and I don't have the tools to do the accents on top of some words.

So there's some Portuguese for you all. I would challenge you all by trying to translate this on google but you would just get some butchered version of what I was trying to say and think that I was horrible. So I'll translate it for you.

Hello people! This is Michael, author of The Subtle Chronicler. You're probably wondering why I'm writing in Portuguese. If you're not trying to wonder what language this is anyway. Fine, okay, okay, I'll go back to English.

So there we go. You have learned some Portuguese. Cool points for those of you who can pronounce the words.

Anyway, today is Monday and I'm just finishing up on The Last Song. The movie not the book, with Miley Cyrus. My little Miley Cyrus whom I love so much. We're getting married and she knows it! She just won't say it. I'm a few minutes away from the end and it's just sad. No I am not shedding a tear but I am all sad like. This movie is awesome.

But, I should be talking about what I am reading. And that is....

Matched by Ally Condie. So far I'm on Chapter 17, Page 186 of 366. So far, the book is good. I love the type of books set in the future where the government controls everything and everything is planned out for you. Like Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. I think it's called Dystopian but it could not be Dystopian, since their world feels perfect. How can a perfect world be bad, eh?
But I think that the Dystopian type is one of my favorite type of novels. I just like seeing how this perfect world is truly bad and watching people rebel against it.

Oh hold up the movie. Her father ='(

./` Cuz there is no guarantee that this life is easy! Yea when my world is falling apart and there's no light to break up the dark that's when I, I, I look at you. ./`

Sorry, that song is just awesome. So, I'm back from watching the movie, so back to the book talk. I like the world that Ally created. How the government truly controls your life from who you marry, to what you do and eat, to when you die. It's crazy just how much control they have over you. And while it seems like bliss and all nice and pretty on the outside, it's really diabolic and evil. You have absolutely no choice in what you do.

There's not really much action so far. It's more about her feelings towards what is going on and while that is good because some interesting stuff happens, I would like to see something explode. But I might get that because I'm sure the novel picks up.

Now, I don't want to give much away so I'm going to end this post and get back to reading before my shows start. I hope you all check this book out and if you have, tell me what you thought about it in the comments below! =D
