Honesty Hour (9)

Hey Chroniclers! It's Thursday once more and you all know what that means! It's time for another Honesty Hour! Honesty Hour is a weekly meme where unlike a review, it's more of a discussion full of spoilers and whatnots. And aside from talking about the book, I can talk about certain characters, plots, settings, covers, authors and anything else that I can think of. Now I warn you, these posts may be full of spoilers. SO PROCEED WITH CAUTION AFTER THE PHOTO FOR SPOILERS MAY BE WITHIN!

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer!

Cinder and Scarlet are the first two fairy retellings in a four part series. Cinder starts off with the retelling of Cinderella in New Beijing in a world full of androids and cyborgs. Everyone swore this was the best thing they had read in the longest but when I finally read it, it fell flat. I enjoyed it but it wasn't what people said it was. I seriously thought it was going to be better but I was reading it so slow because my interest just wasn't holding. My eyes literally glazed over and I had to re-read several passages over and over.

The ending though was something that I liked and made me want to continue the series. Thus I read Scarlet which is the retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. The novel continues the story of Cinder from the first novel and introduces us the character of Scarlet who lives in France. Her grandmother is missing and with the help of a guy called Wolf, she goes out to find her and ends up crossing paths with Cinder.

The thing is, Scarlet was a lot better than Cinder. A lot better. I liked the setting a lot more of Paris and France and liked Scarlet a lot more than I liked Cinder. I actually liked the supporting characters a lot more. The thing about these books is that these books were so over-hyped. If there were ever an over-over-hyped book, it would be these. Everyone literally swore up and down that they were the best thing they had ever read and I was just not that impressed. I do have to say I'm pretty excited for the next two novels and hope that the characters get better and better.

But what are your thoughts on the series? Did you like it or did you have the same problem? Leave your comments down below!

Monday's Novel Talk (69)

Hey Chroniclers! It's Monday once again and the weather is blah here with the constant rain and gloomy weather. But aside from that I've been doing good! Kind of. I've just been really tired and haven't exactly got much reading in. Since last week, I've read a little more than usual though. It's just the weekend that's been giving me a tough time. Plus, this post is very late. >.>

I finished Scarlet by Marissa Meyer and I absolutely loved it more than Cinder. I thought it was fantastic and I loved Scarlet, the character more than Cinder. It ended on such an exciting note that I really can't wait to see where the story takes us in Cress.

I also finished reading Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews and again I absolutely loved the book. I caught myself laughing and chuckling a lot through the novel and thought that it was such a light fun read. I'll definitely be re-reading it someday in the future.

I'm currently reading The Silent Deal by Levi Stack a book that I got sent for review and so far it's good. I'm currently on page 44 of 346. I'm really interested in what the hell this whole thing about the cards is about and I just need to keep reading to find out.

Aside from that, that's all I've been reading. What have you been reading? Leave your comments down below!

Monday's Novel Talk (68)

So I am back! Memorial Day Weekend basically became longer and aside from other things going on everything is good. So I can now post again as I usually do, or should, and we're starting with today's post!

Lately I've been reading Scarlet by Marissa Meyer and I'm on page 98 of 452. For some reason, my reading of this has been very slow, much like Cinder. I don't know what it is because I do like the books and am enjoying them but I haven't been exactly reading as much as I should and once I do I only read a bit and feel like stopping. I think I've hit a reading slump and this is not cool!

I do want to finish it this week because I'll be starting some big books this month and it won't allow me to really get my TBR Pile lower. But that's all really with what I've been reading. I'm not that far ahead but I hope I get further today.

What have you been reading? Let me know down in the comments below!

Stacking The Shelves (10)

Hey Chroniclers! Another week has come and gone and many of us have gotten more books to add to our shelves. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Tynga over at Tynga's Reviews where we showcase the books we received this week! This week it's basically a blessing that I didn't get a lot of things so that my TBR Pile doesn't go any higher.

When Cinder by Marissa Meyer first came out or I think ARCs were going around, my friend Ky from Can't Find A Bookmark read it and fell in love and just told me about it like the reader she is. I admitted it sounded good and last week I received a copy of Cinder and when I told my friend Ky, she offered to send me her ARC of Scarlet since she already had a hardcover and here we go! I finally got it and I can't wait to read both of them!

I keep hearing good things about both of these books and I'm so excited but I'm not sure when I will read them. Perhaps sometime before June but we shall see.

What did you guys get this week? Let me know in the comments down below!
