Monday's Novel Talk (62)

Hey Chroniclers! It's me again! This time I'm bringing you some Novel Talk a little earlier than I have in the past few weeks. Yay for being almost on time! lol

Since last week I have finished reading Guys Read: The Sports Pages edited by Jon Scieszka. I should be writing a review for it soon, just have to sit down and get to it.

I also finished reading The Namesake by Steven Parlato. It was such a good book and I should be writing a review for it soon as well. Seriously such a good book I loved it that much.

I also started reading A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin and I'm currently on Page 19 of 924. To finish by March 31 I divided the number of days by the number of pages and came to the conclusion that I need to read 66 pages per day. If I read more than that per day, I'll finish it sooner! I've missed reading this so I can't wait to see what goes down and I can't wait for the show to come back!

Monday's Novel Talk (59)

Hey Chroniclers! First off this is post 398! Holy crap! But anywho, sorry for the late post but I just finished cleaning the room and fixing some things and doing laundry for the first time. I'm so exhausted! D'= But I'm sure I lost like 15 pounds from walking up and down those damn steps. Aside from that though, I have been sick a bit and I've been taking medication which has been putting me to sleep and knocking me out when I want to read.

Since last week I have finished How To Save A Life by Sara Zarr. I enjoyed the book, although the characters really were a bit unlikable in the beginning. But by the end I was happy with how it ended even though I called it from about halfway. It was a feel good book and I'm glad I read it. I might try to review the book but I really need to think more about it and figure out what I actually thing. The book also allowed me to check Colorado off of my 50 States Book Challenge! 

I also started reading A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. Let me tell you, I knew I was going to like this book and love it at some point, but I love it so much already! It's really giving me Harry Potter feelings with the way that there's some scenes that have nothing to do with plot but build the character and gives us history with the characters and I love that so much! It also switches character perspective with each chapter so we get different story lines and it's not set on just one thing. I'm currently on page 218 out of 674. So I'm almost done >.>

A Book Lovers Holiday Gift Guide [Part 1]

Have you ever wondered what to get your friends who are in love with books? I don't know how many times I've gotten asked which books are good and which books are in right now. So I decided to create a small gift guide to what you can buy your friends this Christmas. And let us begin.

First let's start off with books that have been turned into movies that will be coming out soon.




     

Those four above are 4 of the many anticipated movies that will be released in cinema's in the year 2013. If I were to include all of the movies we'd be here for days because inspirations comes from books in bunches! Now depending what you're into you might be able to find these books interesting.

If you love demon fighters and an interesting story-line, City of Bones is just for you. Into magic and forbidden love, Beautiful Creatures is exactly what you want. If you want to read a different kind of love story with a bit of humor between a human and a zombie, Warm Bodies has it all. Or if you're looking for alien invasion, The Host will seep into your mind and take over.

So now the next category will be Dystopian books that I extremely enjoyed. 

     

These three books are some of the best Dystopian books I have ever read and I can say has graced us with their presence. Everyone knows what The Hunger Games is so I don't even have to explain. But, Gone features a world where everyone over the age of 15 in this small town in California disappears and the kids are left to defend themselves in a bubble where animals have mutated along with the kids who are gaining powers. The Maze Runner is like a cross between the other two where kids have to find their way out of a maze they were put in with no memory of their past.

The next category has to be Adult Fantasy. Three different book series that every adult should read for sure.

     

There's not much that I can say about these three series except that they are high fantasy, action packed, full of adventure and all of that good stuff. Sword of Truth and Wheel of Time series are like close to 1,000 pages each book with over 10 books in the series and they are gooooood. Where A Game of Thrones is seven books of greatness and epicness! The Night Angel Trilogy is a great story about an assassin that deserves to become a show on HBO. If you're into cunning assassins and murder everywhere, this trilogy is for you.

In My Mailbox/Book Haul (15)

It has been a while since I did one of these and another while since I last posted. Things got kind of busy and I was just all types of lazy to type up a post but finally I am back! In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren where we show the books we got the past week. This week was actually pretty good because I caved in and bought some books and plus a sequel came out. I was supposed to put this up yesterday but I had to work so I had no time.

Tuesday I went to Barnes and Noble in NYC with my niece because The Calling by Kelley Armstrong had just come out. I bought it and read it and it was actually really good. But my addiction got the best of me so I bought A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. I always said that I wouldn't read the books until I finished the three last books of Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind and I'm still keeping up on that. I just had to buy the books to have it! >.>

Thursday my addiction got the best of me again so I ordered the second book, A Clash of Kings and it arrived Saturday morning. I'm trying to get all of the books in Hardcover without the HBO thing on top and they look amazing in person.

But yea that's all I got this week. I doubt I'll be getting anything else real soon because I still need to lower my TBR Pile. Leave your links down below and show me what you guys got the past week!
