Stacking The Shelves (20: Christmas Edition)

Hey guys! It's been a while since I did one of these but I figured I'd do one now because Christmas came and went and I got a LOT of books. To start off, Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga from Tynga's Reviews where we show you guys the books we got. Now to showoff but to help you guys find some books. I'll be doing it a bit different than usual. I always put a picture of the books but there's so many this time I'll also put up the spines.

All of these books were bought using gift cards I received for Christmas. There's actually one book missing but at the time, I didn't realize it was still only available for pre-order and will come out July. But hey, Christmas in July. Some of these books I already owned but got different copies.

Shatter Me I owned the hardcover but because of the cover change I decided to get the paperback so that they match.
Numbers & Cinder I owned paperbacks and needed the Hardcovers.
The Forsaken, Scarlet & The Lost Code I owned ARCs of and had to get actual copies. Everything else I got to read.

I'm super excited to read the books that are new to me. Some of them I've wanted for years and I finally have them! Check them out later when the TBR Pile post comes out.

And that's how good my Christmas was! Let me know down in the comments below how good your Christmas was and we can discuss!

Cast Them Away (8)

Hey Chroniclers! How's everyone doing today? It's currently Wednesday, the middle of the week and I'm still in Portugal. Still. I love it here but I do miss home. A lot. Especially my bed and my books. Believe it or not, I took a picture of my books so I can look at them when I miss them. Talk about being a creeper. But, it being Wednesday today makes today special because I can bring you an edition of Cast Them Away! Cast Them Away is a weekly meme hosted by me where I choose an actor or an actress to play a character from a book if the book were ever turned into a movie. Because I'll be in Portugal for three Wednesdays and settling in on the fourth, I'll be using the four Wednesdays of August and try to cast the four leading ladies of Pretty Little Liars into movie adaptations of YA novels. Let us begin with the first one.

The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse is a great dystopian novel where people who show signs (in their mind) of being able to do harm or disrupt the peace are sent onto an island. Alenna has been acting good and doesn't have any bad thoughts, so when she's sent to the island, called the wheel, she is more than shocked. Alenna must face brutal people and learn to survive in an environment she wasn't prepared for.

The novel is full of action and adventure and mystery. We are kept guessing what the hell is going on until the very end and even then we are still left wanting more. If I had to cast Alenna with an actress from Pretty Little Liars, I would know who to choose.

It's actually interesting because I would choose her regardless if she was in the show or not. Something about her just makes me want to see her as Alenna and I love her so much. Plus, I kind of pictured her while reading.

That person I'm talking about is Troian Bellisaro, who plays Spencer. Something about the way she plays Spencer really reminds me of Alenna. The need to be perfect at everything and to overachieve. I'm pretty sure if Spencer and Alenna met they would be either great friends or big rivals.

The picture of Troian on the right actually reminds me of Alenna. Tall girl with her hair pulled back into a ponytail with a long neck. Troian is a beautiful girl but I would love to see her get dirty and bloodied up a bit and thrown into some action. Action aside from surviving A. More like surviving for her life.

What do you guys think? Yay or Nay? Have anyone else in your mind for the role of Alenna? Leave your comments down below!

Tuesday's Novel Spotlight (51)

Hey Chroniclers! Today is going to be a good day because I'll be putting up two different posts! The first one, which is this one, is going to be Tuesday's Novel Spotlight, where I kind of share my enthusiasm for books that are sequels that have been released today. I won't be talking about them because I don't want to spoil anything, just sharing how excited I am! Basically, Tuesday's Novel Spotlight is a weekly meme hosted by me where I share the books that are sequels that have been released today. It differs from The Novel's Court which is about debut novels. Today, there are three books that have been released that I can't wait to get my hands on. Pity that I'm in Portugal.

The first book I'm excited for that is coming out today has got to be...
The Uprising by Lisa M. Stasse!

I love Dystopian books and the fact that this promised us some shiz going down in the future, I'm so excited to see how everything turns out. A reasons I love Dystopian novels is because, especially if they're in a trilogy or series, I can see how it goes from the normal of their world, to completely messed up an in utter chaos. It's just fantastic. They changed the font and cover colors of the second book from the first so I'll have to wait for this paperback version to come out, but I'm still excited!

The second book I'm really excited for is...
The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns by Chris Colfer!

First off, I'm in love with this cover. I think the purple is striking and the eyes add that creepiness to it. Love the images on the side and I'm glad it matches with the first book. I think it'll look amazing side by side. I don't really remember the first book except for some parts so I might have to re-read it to start this one, but I don't mind.

The third and last book I'm excited for is...
When The Stars Threw Down Their Spears by Kersten Hamilton!

It's been a while since I read the first book, but I do know that I loved it oh so much. I still haven't read the second book but I'm definitely excited to dive in and then follow it with the third one. I might have to re-read the first one as well just so that I get refreshed on it.

Will you be reading any of these books? Leave your comments down below with your thoughts!

Monday's Novel Talk (67)

Hey Chroniclers! It's been a while since I did one of these so I have a bit to talk about. Today my site turns 3 and if you haven't, you should check out the giveaway post down below! 3 people will get to win a choice of their book! But onto the reading part!

Since last post I finally finished Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare and while I did like it I found the end to be too convenient for my taste but whatever. I've learned you can't have everything with books xD I can't wait for Cassandra Clare's future books which involve City of Heavenly Fire, The Dark Artifices Trilogy as well as the newly announced TLH set after The Infernal Devices and a mystery Trilogy set after The Dark Artifices. That'll make 18 Shadowhunter novels not including the novellas and such.

I then read Numbers by Rachel Ward and a lot of people didn't like it but I found myself drawn to it and really enjoy it. I think it's because of what happened with Boston that kind of mixed in with this book and I felt myself intrigued and such. I do plan on reading the other two books some day.

I also finished reading The Lost Code by Kevin Emerson and I thought it was going to be one way but I absolutely fell in love with the book. It was completely different than what I expected and I can't wait for the future novels to come out so I can read them and continue on in the adventure.

The book I'm currently reading now is The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse and I'm currently on page 16 of 375. I haven't exactly been reading much lately because I haven't been home and such but I do plan on finishing this book soon. So far it's getting interesting but I feel like it'll keep getting better.

But that's all that I've been reading lately. What have you guys been reading? Let me know down in the comments below.
