Cast Them Away (6)

Hey Chroniclers! It's May! Holy crap! I was going to post more yesterday but I was feeling under the weather and my mind wanted to shut down and I wasn't up for it but I feel loads better now and can continue posting! We are back though with another Cast Them Away, a weekly meme hosted by me where we choose an actor or actress to play a character from novels if they were ever to become a movie or show. This week it'll be one that I really want to see on the screen and it will kill me if we don't get to.

Gone by Michael Grant is a series that I don't even want a movie for. I want it to be a show on HBO where we can see the struggles and nothing is censored. Gone is the first novel of six where everyone 15 and older simply vanishes from a town and surrounding area and everyone 14 and younger a left behind in a sort of bubble dome. Not only do they have to survive but some of the kids are mutated powers and have to fend off not only mutated animals but each other.

The novel is a heavy novel that censors nothing as we see the kids fight for survival and try to get a grip on reality. The reason I want this as a series on HBO is because a lot goes on between so many characters that a movie wouldn't do. A movie would leave out the important facts and dumb down the kids and make it just a story about love and survival where we see these kids being forced into adults.

Two of the characters though I completely saw as actresses and would love them to be cast for their roles. The first one is the role of Astrid who is the girl on the cover of Gone and I would love it if AnnaSophia Robb would play her role. Astrid is one of the few main characters who has no powers and is considered the genius of them all. She has to rely on quick wits and her brain to survive in this world.

There's times when she seems so fragile that she can break but there's others where she becomes a badass and starts kicking everyone's ass. AnnaSophia Robb has that look where she can be sweet but will change her mood in 2.5 seconds if you mess with her. Plus, we know she's a good actress so it's not like she'll suck and mess the roll up.

The next role I'd have to choose would be Diana who is the bad girl of the novel. She actually does have a power which is to read the level on other people's powers. While it doesn't seem like much it's able to help out her lover gain more power.

Diana is a lot like Astrid actually. While the two are often fighting for different things in different manners, they're all trying to reach that one goal which is to leave the FAYZ, the name they gave for the dome.

Diana is also seen as someone who is badass and can kick your ass if you mess with her but there's moments when we see deeper into her and see how she's fragile and suffering and would cry for mommy as much as any of the other kids inside the FAYZ.

While reading, there was one person on my mind. It's funny because the two girls kind of resemble their cover counterparts so I guess that's where I got the idea from, but I would choose Phoebe Tonkin for the part. Phoebe Tonkin is known in other countries for her work but she was recently in a show called The Secret Circle where she played the bad girl.

I think Phoebe would be an amazing Diana and that the role would allow her to push herself past her limits. Plus I want to see these two girls butt heads and show each other who is boss.

Monday's Novel Talk (63)

Hey Chroniclers! I'm finally posting again and on such a good time too! The weather is AMAZING today. It's warm, the sun is hot, and I keep hearing birds singing. Spring has finally arrived and everyone knows that you read better during the Spring.

It's been a while since I posted one of these so I've done a bit of reading since then.

I finished A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin and it's seriously one of my favorite series. It ended with such a cliffhanger that I need to read the fourth book now, but I must wait! Season 3 of Game of Thrones started as well so I have something to quench my thirst for more. 5 out of 5 stars / O for Outstanding.

I finished reading Hidden by Sophie Jordan, the final book in the Firelight Trilogy and I was greatly disappointed. I gave it 2 out of 5 stars or a P for Poor. I think that the story of it all in general was lacking and could have all fit into one book. And for a series ending it lacked all the good things it should have given us.

I read Light by Michael Grant, the last book in the Gone series. I loved it so much and it was everything I asked for. I felt like one part was a bit sudden but overall it was literally everything I asked for. 5 out of 5 stars or a O for Outstanding.

I also finished The Rising by Kelley Armstrong the final book in The Darkness Rising Trilogy a companion trilogy to The Darkest Powers Trilogy. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars / E for Exceeds Expectations because I felt that the ending could have been something different. She also said that she was done with that world for now but I feel like she should go back to it and give us what she promised.

I'm currently reading Endlessly by Kiersten White the third and final book in the Paranormalcy Trilogy. I'm only on Page 1 of 385 but I hope that if I read a lot today, I can finish it by tomorrow.

Stacking The Shelves (14)

Hi Chroniclers! Another week has come and gone and I've been lacking with the posts. I'm trying to get them up again but I've just been so blah. But let's get on with today's post. Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Tynga from Tynga's Reviews where we show you the books we received or bought during the past week. This week I got a couple of books for some very good reasons!

On Tuesday, the day when books are released, I went to Barnes & Noble in NYC once more and bought Light by Michael Grant. It is the final book of the series and I actually finished it already. It was so amazing and I felt a bit empty after closing the book and saying goodbye.

I also bought The Rising by Kelley Armstrong which was also released on Tuesday and is also the final book of it's trilogy. This one I'm currently reading and it's another favorite trilogy of mine and hopefully I'll be done soon.

I decided to buy Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness which follows the buying theme basically and is the last book of its trilogy. I haven't started reading them yet but it was cheap and I had to get it.

This week I also got a Barnes & Noble 20% off coupon and I made a list of the books below $10 that I wanted to buy and chose the cheapest one and used the discount. So basically, I bought Sweep Volume 1 by Cate Tiernan for about 3 bucks. My sister actually has this book and loved it and I've wanted to buy it. The other books are also less than $5 so I should be getting them soon.

So that's all that I got this week! 4 books and I'm happy with that! I don't plan on buying anything for a little while but that never works out so we'll see how it goes. What did you guys get this week though?

Cover Reveal: Light by Michael Grant

Lately it feels like I've been behind on the times of cover reveals. I've been seeing new book covers days after they've been released. And it's just the same with this one, only thing is, I'm not the only one. When Michael Grant shared a picture of his computer's background, we noticed how he put all the covers of his book together and thought it was cute. That is until we noticed there was one more book cover than we know about. He just showed us Light and apparently it's been out for a few days already.

Light by Michael Grant is the final book in his Gone Series, a series where kids are left behind in a bubbled area and forced to survive with no adults. Filled with superpowers, drama and thrilling action, it's sad to see the final book so close to us. But have no Fear, this book should only be released next year. Haha I just made a pun. The fifth book Fear is set to be released 03 April, 2012 and I seriously can't wait for it.

I have to say this is my favorite cover. It just looks smoother and I love the colors of it they're very neutral colors and don't scream at you. And I'm sure this will be the best book of the series as well. Every book before this has been such a crazy adventure, I mean it's seriously one of the best books I've read. Just full of deaths and twists and lies and turns it's beyond crazy. So I can only imagine the big bang before the series finishes.
