Tuesday's Novel Spotlight (44)

I've missed you guys oh so much! And I've missed posting on here regularly but hopefully that will change and I'll start coming on here more. =D Today I'm here to introduce a book to the world that has been released today and it's pretty funny but only now did I notice that it was by an author that I enjoy reading!

Beta by Rachel Cohn!

Elysia is created in a laboratory, born as a sixteen-year-old girl, an empty vessel with no life experience to draw from. She is a Beta, an experimental model of a teenage clone. She was replicated from another teenage girl, who had to die in order for Elysia to exist.

Elysia's purpose is to serve the inhabitants of Demesne, an island paradise for the wealthiest people on earth. Everything about Demesne is bio-engineered for perfection. Even the air induces a strange, euphoric high, which only the island's workers -soulless clones like Elysia- are immune to.

At first, Elysia's life is idyllic and pampered. But soon she sees that Demesne's human residents, who should want for nothing, yearn. But for what, exactly? She also comes to realize that beneath the island's flawless exterior, there is an undercurrent of discontent among Demesne's worker clones. She knows she is soulless and cannot feel and should not care-so why are overpowering sensations clouding Elysia's mind?

If anyone discovers that Elysia isn't the unfeeling clone she must pretend to be, she will suffer a fate too terrible to imagine. When her one chance at happiness is ripped away with breathtaking cruelty, emotions she's always had but never understood are unleashed. As rage, terror, and desire threaten to overwhelm her, Elysia must find the will to survive.

The first in a dazzlingly original science fiction series from best-selling author Rachel Cohn, Beta is a haunting, unforgettable story of courage and love in a corrupted world.

The Story: It sounds kind of interesting but I'm afraid that like many YA novels, love is going to be the main part of it. Which sucks. It already says so in the synopsis so ugh! Whenever a synopsis mentions love as a main factor, that's my signal to run away. But the rest seems very interesting and like it could be good.

The Cover: I love the cover! Love the colors, they're very pastel-like and not bright and in your face. The girls eyes and the tattoo on her face. Just everything about it compliments each other and doesn't try to overrun each other. Also love the font it looks pretty awesome!

The Verdict: I most likely won't be buying this or reading. If it were for the alone being on my shelf I would but other than that nope. I'll check out some reviews to see how it does though!

To Be Read Pile (October 2012)

I seriously have the worst luck in the world ever! My laptop decided to have the keyboard stop working out of NOWHERE! What kind of crap and then weeks later it started again! Just what? -sigh- Technology seriously does hate me lol. Anyway, I present to you my To Be Read Pile for October!

To Be Read Pile (October)
Yes.... There are more books than last month but it's not my fault! Harper Collins Publisher sent me 6 books for Halloween and then 1 normal book. This wasn't planned, I wasn't expecting and thus it brought my TBR Pile up! But I also bought 4 books. One of them I had already read so it didn't go to the TBR Pile. But still you can see that there's more books there than before. D= Although the bottom shelf is more empty because I added some of the books to the top! =P

To Be Read Pile (September)
This month, since it is October, I'm planning on read the six Halloween books I was sent. After that I'll try to go for Beautiful Darkness and if there's still time Beautiful Chaos. I also plan on reading The Casual Vacancy either at the end of this month or the beginning of next.

Last month I had 43 books. I read 7 books and have started my 8th! With that and receiving books my pile was raised up to 47 books! Damn it all, I'll never leave here lol.

With what I plan to read the Halloween books and then some more I'll hopefully be down to 40 books. Hopefully.

Hopefully my laptop doesn't act up so I can put a few more posts up. We'll see.

To Be Read Pile (September 2012)

How is everyone?! It's been so long and I've legit only been posting once a month which is horrible. But not having a good computer is causing this although I'll try to post a lot more this month. Either way I've been reading a lot still and I present to you my To Be Read Pile for September!

To Be Read Pile (September)
You may notice how it looks completely different. I painted my walls and added new furniture including new bookcases so this is where my pile goes. Since last month I have added 11 new books that I got for my birthday! This is basically like a restart of the photography because you can't exactly tell a difference between this one and last months although you can notice at least one or two books gone. In October you'll be able to see the difference.

To Be Read Pile (August)
This month I plan to read some more of the smaller books and tackle at least one of the hardcovers. But we'll see how that plays out.

Last month I had 39 books. I received 15 books which brought that list up to 54 books. I read 8 books in the month of August. Finished one on the 4th and started another so that brought the pile down to 43 books.

Hopefully next month I'll go below 39 so that we can tell a difference.

To Be Read Pile (August 2012)

Hey all! Sorry I haven't been posting and it sucks because it feels like I'm in rehab. I still don't have my new laptop because I haven't started my new job yet. I've been super busy what with my birthday and everyone else's going on. But I have still been reading and it's finally August so I present to you my To Be Read Pile for August!

To Be Read Pile (August)
Compared to last month I have read 6 books and started my seventh. I added 2 books but completed one. It kind of looks like my TBR Pile went up because of the Hardcover book that was added but there's a difference with my paperbacks section. It's going to be crazy because of my birthday and so I ordered a lot of books. I got 7 today and tomorrow I'm supposed to get 3 more and I don't think that's all.

To Be Read Pile (July)
This month I plan to read most of the books that I got in the mail because they are smaller but I also plan on finishing up some of those paperback books.

Last month I had 42 books and I brought that down to 39 which I had planned for 35 but it's still not that bad. Although with books being added because of my birthday and the ones I'm getting tomorrow that 39 goes up to 49 which is just D= but hey we'll see where that goes!

Cover Reveal: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Hey everyone! So before I hit the gym Cassandra Clare was revealing her cover for Clockwork Princess the third book in The Infernal Devices Trilogy. By tweeting the hashtag #ClockworkPrincess pieces that were blocking the cover were taken away and little by little the cover was being revealed. As I came back from the gym it was finally revealed in it's full glory!

This cover it. I LOVE IT! I love the color of it, I love the girl on it the way she's dressed that book she is holding. I love everything about it! Cassandra Clare's books have some of the best covers I've seen (with the exception of City of Fallen Angels & City of Lost Souls) and her The Infernal Devices covers are simply amazing. The book is set to be released 19 March, 2013 so we still have a long way to go but I'll happily wait for it with no worries or rush.

But still in the meantime I will look at this beauty.

To Be Read Pile (July 2012)

Happy July everyone! I am back, kind of. While I don't have a laptop because I'm still not working, (I'll be going to Canada this weekend and when I come back I go back to my new job) I am currently on my crappy computer trying to make it as much as possible. But let me show you my To Be Read Pile of July!

To Be Read Pile (July)
Compared to last month, I have read 7 books and started my eighth. I added 3 books but one of them I already read. You can finally tell there's a difference and that the pile looks smaller than last month which makes me happy because it makes me feel like there's progress!

To Be Read Pile (June)
This month I do plan to read a couple of the big books but it might be hard. With starting the new job, me going places, birthdays being everywhere, including mine, I don't know how many books I'll be able to read. And especially because it's going to be my birthday soon, I know I'll be receiving B&N gift cards so more books will be coming in soon! D=

Last month I had 47 books and this month I brought that down to 42 books which makes me super happy! I'm planning to be at least around 35 in August!
