Guess That Novel (4)

Sorry I did not post yesterday! I apologize just please do not stone me! I'm not a wizard!

<<
>>

Anywho, I had a graduation yesterday and woke up at 6 in the morning and didn't get back until 11 at night or so.

So let's start off with last week's.

Frizz cleared his throat. "This probably isn't the best time to worry about face ranks, Hiro."
"This isn't about face ranks, you bubblehead!"
"Technically speaking, I'm not a bubblehead," Frizz said calmly.

Now right off the bat, someone answered, because they love stalking my blog. Lol, I KID I KID!

That person was Ky!!!! She actually doubted herself a bit. But hey, she still got it right. xD

Follow her over at, http://findabookmark.blogspot.com/ or else she will find you! Trust me, she can do that. O.o

Kelli, over at I'd So Rather Be Reading, also answered but a later than Ky. You might as well follow her but I can not put up a link. Why? The forces don't let me. ='(
And if you can see by the comments in last week's guess that novel, you see we had a discussion of my childhood. Yea....

Anyway! Let's get to this weeks!

I thought back. --- and I had only made it as far as Victoria's Secret. I'd spent thirty dollars on the lacy black bra, but I wasn't about to go there. Instead I related my evening, starting with sensing I was being followed, and ending with finding --- on the side of the road, the victim of a brutal mugging.

Your job? Just tell me the name of the novel. But, here's the deal. If someone answers with just the novel the next person to answer has a chance to get their link up on the post too by not only answering the novel, but by answering who --- is. Remember each - stands for 1 letter. So there can be two featured blogs.

So let's get to it. And remember I might make a contest of this somehow. How? I don't know yet lol.

Book Review: Bridge to Terabithia

This is the other book that I mention in my The Lovely Bones review about hearing it because of the movie.

Like the one before, this is also short because it was one of the first reviews I have written "professionally". So, um, here we go!

Author: Katherine Paterson
Pages: 128
Rating: E for Exceeds Expectations
Review: Remember when we were little kids, and we always played games with our friends that most of the time involved our imagination? How we created worlds that only our most trusted best friends could see? How in our world, we had everything we imagined? How in our world, everything was innocent and pure? How in our world, we never thought that one day, life would take over and destroy our it?

Bridge to Terabithia, is that world. The world we dream of when we sleep. Don’t you ever miss that world?

Bridge to Terabithia starts off with a boy named Jess, who’s a middle schooler that acts like most teenagers today. In his eyes, his life sucks. That is, unless it’s the annual school race where he decides that he will win in first place. And win he almost does. That is, until someone beats him. A girl by the name of Leslie Burke. This girl beat all the boys in the race and back then and even today, when you’re a little kid, being beaten by girls is not okay. After all, they do have cooties…

The story goes on and Jess and Leslie become the best of friends, and eventually, as all kids, create their perfect world. Terabithia. To get into Terabithia, you have to cross this creek by swinging on a rope. But in their minds, it’s a magnificent bridge. They have battles and wars, party’s and everything else there is to do. Outside of Terabithia, no one else knows about it.

Jess starts to think that his life is getting better and Leslie is living life as free-spirited as she can with her family. Something Jess wish he had. In his eyes, she has everything he doesn’t. So when his teacher invites him on a trip, he doesn’t invite Leslie along, as he was told to. Instead, he makes an excuse that she can’t go. That night, everything changed. Fatally.

In Jess’ mind, Terabithia still lives, as he shares the secret along with his younger sister. In his mind, Terabithia still includes Leslie.

I remember I first read this for my Sophmore year of High School right at the end for extra credit. Lol, I passed the class, woot! And I loved it! And the movie is also amazing. So check both of them out! Tell me your thoughts on the review, the novel and/or the movie if you've seen/ready it.

Monday's Novel Talk (3)

Hello my fellow bloggers. It is Monday and I am actually posting up today's correct post! Haha yea, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm so tired! I just want to sleep but I just got my laptop and everything that's good keeps happening to me.

Still can't get a girlfriend....

Oh God! I seem like a desperate needy little boy. Anyway I'm not! Lol. I'm seeing relationships forming and falling and yea I haven't had a girlfriend since like, yesterday, and as Justin Bieber said, "I JUST NEED SOMEBODY TO LOVE!!!!" Lol I'm such a weird man.

Anyway, going on to what I do best, here comes today's novel talk.

So I'm almost done with Lodestone Book One: The Sea of Storms by Mark Whiteway and I might just go out and buy a copy to give away in a contest. I want someone else to enjoy it as much as I am. I'm currently on page 213 of 278. Unlike the other novel I was reading with this,

-camera shoots to Naked Empire by Terry Goodkind which is still on page 9, Chapter 2-

I have actually made progress. It is going crazy. I just found out because I re-read the beginning that the supposed "sixth" character by the name of Kal is actually some dude from back in the time. Hence why he was in the Prologue and not the main story. Fail Mr. Michael, Fail.

-camera shoots to page 9, Chapter 2- -awkward silence-

Anyway, on Sunday I bought a book. I didn't do an in my mailbox so I will be doing one this Sunday with what I got last week and this week. Which has been great this week already.

Anyway I got -camera shows page 9, chapter 2- Okay seriously?! Like I was saying, I got The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer. I must say and dear Merlin help me as I say this. I'm enjoying it. =O Oh dear Nargles! Yea, the characters are much more bearable. They have substance although not much. There's no mushy stalker love going on. And we finally get to see the evil vampires Point of -page 9, chapter 2- .... view.

So yea, expect a review on that. So this is basically it for today's novel talk. Short I know but it's nice and sweet. Plus I'm almost done with one and the other is short so I figured you guys would wait for the review.

Anyway -page 9- I SWEAR! I dare you to finish it. Go ahead! Show chapter 2. Watch what's going to happen to you, you little -chapter 2-

........

Author Spotlight (2) Top 5 Favorites - #4

This week I'll be continuing with my Top 5 Favorite Authors, and from what I posted last week, so far they are;

  1. ----
  2. ----
  3. ----
  4. ----
  5. Cinda Williams Chima

Scott Westerfeld is a southern man at heart, being born in Texas. He started writing Science Fiction for Adults with 1997 being his first published year. He also worked as a ghost writer during 1997-2003 writing five Goosebumps, three Power Puff Girls, and one legal thriller of which he says he can't talk about. In 2004, he turned over to Young Adult (lucky us!) and has produced over 10 novels to date.

Now the only novels I have read by Scott Westerfeld were Uglies Trilogy +1 and a Guide. That's what I like to call them. I know again how can he be my favorite author if I haven't read most of his work? Well because I'm so cool that I can do that! Haha, I'm just kidding.

I have his other novels on my list of books to buy which is over 300 books. But that's not the point.

I don't remember exactly when I read Uglies Trilogy +1. I do know that I bought the Trilogy box set and alongwith Extras in hardcover.

I do know that I was in Highschool and it must've been around my Freshman to Sophmore year. Somewhere around there. So I read them and I was in love with the whole thing. It was my first dystopian novel that I had ever read and I didn't even know it until a year or so ago. The whole idea of having operations to change who you are was really fascinating me. And how in Extras people were getting like ruby eyes and clocks in their eyes and extra arms and legs and different color skin and manga eyes. All crazy.

But I seriously want to read his other work. Peeps and Leviathan. It all seems epic! He's just one of those authors who is beyond epic just because. And his wife's work, Justine Larbalestier, also seems fantastic so check her out.

So if you haven't heard of Scott Westerfeld, please go read his work now! If not then we have a problem.

Here's a list of his works with links to his novels on barnesandnoble.com where you can buy them.

Succession
Midnighters
Leviathan
Stand-Alone Books
So I just noticed that I first read Uglies Trilogy +1 my Sophmore year. =D
Woot for remembering!

So yea check out his work! Or else! But really, please do.

Update: Here's his website. http://scottwesterfeld.com/blog/

Today is all about celebration!

Portugal beat North Korea 7-0 making it a new record for this world cup!!!!

And of course most of the Brazilians down here are hating saying that North Korea was a sucky team. Um, do you guys remember how you struggled to get that 2-1 score and we got 7-0? No well just reminding you then.

Anyway I cried with joy when we kept scoring and went out to party. The street was blocked off. I mean almost a mile long street cut out from everything because Portuguese were partying!!!!

It's amazing! I'm in love. And Friday is going to be the end of all ends. Portugal against Brazil. There will be a war. It's going to be crazy so I might not be able to respond to you guys at all that day lol.

Oh and my laptop charger came in and that's what I'm on so be prepared for all the posts.

7 FRIGGEN 0! Unbelievable. Scored by 6 different players. Omg they literally kept coming in one after the other. Ugh, this made waking up at 7 and having this killer headache totally worth it! Friday will be crazy can't wait for it.

So yea guys be prepared for my posts that I'll be putting up.

And 97 followers! LOVING YOU ALL!!!!

Twilight: What it should have been

So I was talking to my friend about twilight and stuff and I gave her my version of how it should have been.

Bella would be a newborn. Ravenous, thirsty. Her throat aching and burning for the sweet, bitter blood that makes her smile with relief. She has her power of being immune to any other power. Including the Volturi. In comes James, Laurent and Victoria. They go into Forks and see Bella. Only James is foolish enough to go after her. Why? We'd soon find out. Bella runs away from James in a great chase and finds herself at a glass house full of Vampires. In comes Edward and drives James away. Bella notices their eyes. Different then the blood red. They're gold. She finds out they don't attack humans, yet it's all she thinks about.

Carlisle helps her by bringing human blood from the hospital. For some reason they've kept her. They all know who she is. Vampires want to control Bella Swan, to take down the Volturi and start spreading the vampire population and get rid of humans. Bella quickly see's that this would end horribly. No humans means no blood. A war between their kind would erupt. Plus Bella doesn't want to be controlled.

James kidnaps her mom and she goes to save her but it's a trap. Edward comes in, helps her and kills James.

In New Moon, Bella feels like she's putting the Cullens in danger and knows that they want to be left alone. So she runs away. In comes Jacob, this weird boy who she feels a connection with. Yet she can barely be near him. The smell of dog bothers her. But she fights it, a friendship that'll last. In comes Laurent going after Bella. Jacob and crew help her and kill him. (In this Bella and Jacob do it. While he's human ya nasties. Because in this they're 18.) Edward meets Bella and convinces her to go back. Jacob tells her to go and she does.

Eclipse. Victoria isn't bothering going after Bella just yet. She's creating an army first, take down the Cullens and Wolf Pack, kidnap Bella then go for the Volturi. Victoria with a group of her best vampires go to Forks and cause a battle in the middle of it, Cullens, Bella and Wolf Pack team together to help kill the army. Cullens are hurt, one Wolf down, Jessica, Bella's friend is dead. The others find out who she really is and about the Cullens and Wolf Pack.

Volturi find out about the battle and want to kill the Cullens, Wolf Pack and Victoria. Bella asks her father and friends and their family to leave town.

Breaking Dawn, the volturi are gatherin their best. Attacking every vampire they see. Restarting their population. Cullens are collecting friends and family to create their own army to stop the Volturi and take them down. Victoria is gatherin up another army, quicker and fuller than before. A new wolf is introduced to the Cullens and wolf pack. But only as a wolf. It's another female.

It all comes down to a 3 sided war. Literally. The three meet up in the middle of Forks which has been attacked and destroyed. People dead and gone. The Cullens attempt to talk it out. Violence won't solve anything. Victoria and her army attack. Cullens see this as a chance. The volturi are all killed along with Victoria's army. Bella kills Victoria and burns her. Jacob is in critical condition. The newest female turns back into human and it's Angela. Bella's friend. Rosalie too is in critical condition. They soon heal and all is good.

Cullens and Wolf Pack are together, gathering their respective newborns. Bringing them in and teaching them how to control themselves. They are the new leaders, creating a world between children of the night, children of the moon and children of the earth.

And somewhere along all of that Bella and Edward start to kick it off. =D

So yea I'd rather read that. There's no sparkling in the sun. Bella isn't whiny and has character. Edward is protective like every guy is to a girl nothing crazy. Yea. SMeyer I'll let you use those ideas. =D

I'm running out of titles

So today is Sunday! Happy Fathers Day to all you Fathers out there!

I was going to do an In My Mailbox but um, yea the lack of laptop isn't working out. =D
So I'll do it when I get it.

So anyway, tomorrow will be the day that decides if I ever come online again. Portugal is playing its second game, and then they'll play Brazil on Friday. I might cry if they lose. Actually I will cry. It'll be depressing.

I might commit like internet prevention. Actually no lol. I'll come on for sure. Just be sad and my posts will show my tears of pain.

Yes. World Cup Soccer is that serious. Portugal has to make it out of the first rounds at least!

So to anyone out there following the World Cup, not to be mistaken for the Quidditch World Cup, and you are all rooting for your own team, I'm sorry but, YOU'RE GOING DOWN! xD

I love a friendly rivalry...

Anyway, yea I'll be posting up little notes like this but nothing official. I'll post something up about Portugal tomorrow too. Tell you all how I feel and stuff.

VIVA PORTUGAL!!!!!! Haha I had to. Sorry.

-runs away now flailing arms like a muppet- (haha Maureen Johnson refrence)
