Monday's Novel Talk (33)

Seven A.M. waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh gotta go downstairs...

I love this song. Haha so hello people! Today is Monday and it has been very amazing. I have witnessed the Charlie Sheen of literature and she was a train-wreck and I loved watching it! But it's time to talk books. This might be short because I'm tired and don't feel like thinking on what to type.

So I am reading an ARC of The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens. In the beginning I wasn't very fond of it. For some reason, the way it was written just wasn't catching my interest and the characters were a bit bland. But around 40 pages it started to pick up and now I'm fully interested. I'm on page 143, chapter 9 so far and I'm trying to get to 300 by tonight.

The story goes, and this might be a bit spoilerish, that these 3 orphans find this book with magic powers. Whenever they place a picture in one of the blank pages, it takes them to the time of the picture. They can only get back if they have a picture of their time. If they don't have a picture then they're out of luck and stuck in that time period. It's basically time-traveling with pictures which is pretty awesome.

The kids go to this time in the past and end up losing the book and getting stuck there so now they have to go on this adventure and find the book so that they can go back home.

The novel comes out April 5, 2011 and I'm not going to say GO BUY IT WHEN IT COMES OUT! I'll have to finish the novel first. But so far it is getting interesting.

Now I'm going to go. My mind is all jumbled and I don't even know what I'm writing. So I'll save you all and just stop here. =D

The story sounds REALLY interesting. I hate it when authors have great ideas, but they don't deliver the story "right." I mean, when the story is written in a very bland style and it puts you to sleep. Unfortunately, I've read several books like this: great stories, terrible writing.

It really is interesting but as you go further in it gets better and better. I'm just thinking he had a rough start or maybe it was because I was tired. But then again, this is an ARC so the final story might have been touched up. But yea, it's getting loads better =D
