Tuesday's Novel Spotlight (7)

I have yet to write a review for Incarceron and I have no idea why. For some reason I just can not write a review. Perhaps it is because I keep on thinking of good things to say when there is one particular thing about it that keeps bothering me. And that is what I am going to talk about today. That one specific part that might have ruined everything for me.

SPOILERS ALERT!

There is a scene in Incarceron where Claudia and Jared are looking at these little worlds and see one where there is animals on this land or something. You will only get it if you have read it. But that really bothered me. I thought it was really an odd thing to add to the story. Very tacky and for some reason it did not quite fit.

And now the funny thing is that as I am trying to write this, I can not. For some reason my ideas get blocked as if there is not much to say about this. It is pretty weird and I guess I might as well say how I felt about the book. Since a review is not going to be available soon.

I liked the book. I thought it was a change, it was my first ever book about a prison-like world. I liked the concept and the characters but it was just, I do not know, weird? It is hard to explain something when you have no idea what it is. And it gets me frustrated that I can not say what I want!

Maybe I should re-read the book to get deeper into it. Hmm, -thinks-. And I just noticed that Catherine Fisher's writing style is similar to Herbie Brennan's. And weird enough, both of their books were good but at one point they introduced something that just did not cut it for me.

So, perhaps I do have to read the book again, but I will not do it now. Perhaps next year or so.

That is funny that that part bothered you. I didn't even think twice about it! It's neat how everyone interprets books differently!
