Thursday's Author Spotlight (7)

I had the privilege of being able to read a book by an author who is debuting her first YA novel soon, but not her first novel in general. Before I got the book, I thought it would be a good novel but I never expected it to be really good.

Kersten Hamilton surely is an amazing author. Born in High Rolls, New Mexico, in 1958, Hamilton, like many other authors, looks to be younger than she really is. I am beginning to suspect that all authors are part of this cult where they become immortal and trade in their ideas for more years in their lives. I will be part of that one day. =O

Kersten Hamilton, by the age of six, already knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. A writer. How many writers at that age were already able to predict their future? Not many, but she's part of them. And how lucky are we to have her as a writer. To elaborate on the few sentences up top;

I first saw Tyger, Tyger on netgalley and thought it looked interesting. You know the saying, don't judge a book by its cover? Well I sometimes do. Horrible I know, but EVERYONE does it. Anyway, I got interested and looked at what it was about. Goblins. Well there's a change. So I added it to my list of books to read. A week or so later, I received an email from Kersten Hamilton herself. Talking about her book and if I would be able to review a copy for her to read online.

I quickly apologized because reading online is horrible for me. It's not that I don't like it, it's more that I can't do it. It kills my eyesight and I won't be able to see anything for the day. (I wear glasses but never wear them since I need to buy new ones and am too lazy to go.) So a week passed and I worked up the courage, and apologized some more, if there were any actual book form ARC copies of the book. She said she'll ask and she did! Next thing I knew, I had the book in my hand and was super excited.

I finally read the book and HOLY CRAP! I seriously can't wait for it to actually be released in November. It's one of those books where it's all new to you. The story, characters, the villains. Everything was new and exciting to me. And let me tell you, I now love Goblins. I actually always did but now I want to read more of Goblins. I just can't wait until book 2 is released. And book 1 is yet to be released O.o it's that good.

Now you should all go and pre-order a copy of the novel.

Tyger Tyger (November 2010)

Pre-order it or just go out and buy it on the first day. Plus, I'm completely behind her 100% because it's not about vampires. It's a different mythical being all together. That's different, unique and better. Plus Vampires suck. Just saying.

Thank you for the great review, Mike! I cant wait for it to be released, either. :)

We writers don't actually trade our tales for immortality. We look this way because we get slightly fat sitting and writing all day—that plumps out all the wrinkles—and, since we are locked in writing closets, we never get any natural aging from the sun.

Lol, darn, I liked the immortality story. But I guess that I best start preparing for my time as an author than xD

This is only a mini author review. The review for Tyger Tyger, I'm currently working on and I hope to make it one of my best. Thank you so much for commenting on my blog though! That's so awesome! xD
